Solution focused hypnotherapy is the most enjoyable, relaxing way to tackle issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, phobias, smoking, weight management, PTSD, pain management, unwelcome habits like nail biting, and so much more - including emotional challenges relating to Covid-19 and lockdown. It's also great if you're feeling 'stuck' in life, and need support to visualise where you'd really like to be.
The wonderful thing about the solution focused approach is just that - we will focus on solutions, exploring and building your own resources so you can enjoy life to the fullest! There's no need to revisit past pain and difficulty, we're focusing on your future now. There's solid neuroscience behind hypnotherapy, and you're in complete control throughout the process.
What happens in a hypnotherapy session?
The initial, free, consultation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I’ll find out what your best hopes are for therapy and ask you a few questions about you and your situation. It’s up to you how much you share – the solution focused process won’t spotlight your past, so disclose as much or as little as is useful to you. After that I’ll give you a short explanation of how the brain works. People often find this very useful – empowering, even. Understanding the symptoms which are challenging you is the first step to you challenging them. You’ll get a free mp3 to listen to before our next session, and throughout therapy.
Subsequent sessions follow a reassuringly regular format – our partnership to find your new, positive, future has begun! You’ll have an opportunity to review your week and explore your experiences, recognising your strengths and skills and identifying ways to work towards your goals. If that all sounds a bit dry, don’t worry – sessions are often full of smiles and laughter.
I usually use Skype or Zoom at the moment, so pick somewhere you can really relax … a favourite chair, or some people are snuggled up in bed when I call! Wherever you’re most comfortable is the best place – this is your time.
Then … trance. Thirty minutes for you to put everything down while I deliver a ‘language pattern’ tailored to your hopes going forward. If you’re naturally busy-brained don’t worry, it’s a long enough process for even the most chatty head-monkey to switch off! There’s no mystery or magic to it; I’ll put on some gently relaxing music while you get comfortable, and then all you need to do is let the words wash over you while those busy brainwaves relax into a more creative pattern and your subconscious soaks up the messages that are beneficial to you.
