Creative block?

Ah, things I know now I wish I'd known then #362 ;)
Many moons ago I took a Creative Writing MA. The pressure was on to produce work constantly, and what with that and other life priorities to juggle, I found it incredibly hard to get myself into the necessary creative space to keep up. It was a tough year. Yet all too rarely the frustration would lift and I would get into a place where the words would flow with ease ... a chapter would come out in a few hours almost as if it had written itself. What was going on? I can recognise, now, that I was writing in trance on those days, I just didn't realise as it felt so natural! Unfortunately I had no control over it back then, and would sadly spend days fuming at the laptop at my lack of productivity, just to achieve trance as the kids were getting back from school and I'd have to cook dinner with my head somewhere else entirely. After a pretty intense experience with shamanic drumming at a creativity workshop I would listen to this when I wrote, as I found it created a barrier to everyday thoughts ... or, as I realise now, helped put me into a hyper-focused trance state where my creative theta brainwaves were dominant. My journey with hypnosis started earlier than I realised! Fast forward to today, and if I'm writing I'll be more proactive in creating a trance-friendly environment and you know what? I do find it easier to let my creative brain take over ... I can enjoy letting my imagination run free rather than strive to force it to! So if any of this chimes with you, see what helps get your theta brainwaves revving. Try shamanic drumming, self-hypnosis, whatever works for you to induce the creative clarity of trance. Or get in touch, and see where we can take your creativity together! You might also find this article interesting: https://www.hypnotherapy-directory.org.uk/.../hypnosis...
